Smartfirmware OpenFirmware standard (IEEE 1275)

bplan's SmartFirmware is based on the OpenFirmware standard (IEEE 1275) which was originally created by Sun Microsystems. It fulfills the same task as BIOS does on ordinary PC computers. Major features are the included command-based shell environment and its flexible Forth interpreter which allows to execute program code without the need to load an operating system. Furthermore, SmartFirmware features custom emulation technology that was developed to enable compatibility between PowerPC^® systems and standard graphics cards which were designed for use with Intel-compatible computers.
